Editorial: New Manager George Swindin ex Arsenal Goal-Keeper. Jack Craystone ( known as Gentleman Jack ) played wing-half for Arsenal and England before the second world War. After the War he came back to Arsenal as assistant Manager to Tom Whittaker and became manager after Tom Whitakkers death . He resigned at the end of 1957/58 season and has become Manager of Doncaster Rovers. Captain of the Club Dave Bowen Vice Captain Vic Groves. Pre season friendly against Schalke 04 at Half time the Floodlights were turned off, the spectators lit either a match or lighters and the crowd began to sing the miners song. The lights were symbolic of the Miners lamp. At Half time the scores were level at 1-1. The second half saw Schalke score 2 further goals. | |
